OXFAM Live! - Southampton
Today I went to a OXFAM conference in Southampton. It really is inspiring to see so many people coming together for the same cause and a great opportunity to meet people involved with and interested in OXFAM.
There were three presentations: Rekha Shenoy (below) inspired the crowd talking about about her work as a Project Manager in Gujarat, India, Graham MacKay talked about how OXFAM responds to emergencies and finally Katherine Heasman and Adam Askew brought everyone together to talk about local campaigning.
OXFAM do some fantastic work all around the world. To get involved please sign up to their 'I'm in!' campaign today.
Yes I'm In! I want to help
There's Evolution in ..... Revolution
Something is stirring in the air. The people are getting restless with empty promises and they are banding together. There's only one way to start a revolution and that's to believe in it. - Gareth
'Let's salute the crazy ones, the rebels, the ones who see things differently. We can disagree with them, the only thing we can't do is ignore them, because the ones who are crazy enough to believe they can change the world are the ones who do. - Steve Jobs'

While the corporate world is painting the image of INDIAN is shinning ..the divide between the haves and the havesnot is increasing and the poverty line is not declining .The truth is that we are blinded with a narrow appraoch of coporatisation. With the socitey values chaging in the last one decade I think its people like Rekha Shenoy who can bring about changes and a correction in the way development needs to take place. There is a need of partnership between the private and public sector actively in every domain.
Best wishes to Rekha Shenoy

I am proud to be associated with personalities like Rekha Shenoy in the past. I cannot agree more with Kishor's comments. All the best Rekha
Luv and regards,

Agreeing with Kishor and Shreeyala, I feel privileged to know Rekha Shenoy.
People like Rekha Shenoy, and her work, are lost in the noise and clamour that 'new' India is generating.
It is committed people like her, working quietly over decades without seeking attention in remote areas of the country, who are truly making a difference to the lives of people in India.
The media ought to highlight Shenoy and her work.
Renuka i am glad we are able to communicate about subjects of common interest on the blog. I think you should be using your Journalist/editorial skills and write about rekha's work
Hi Shreeyala, I shall be in Gujarat soon and I hope to write about Rekha's work. I will mail you separately surely. So good to see an old friends' network connecting again online thanks to this blog's owner.
renuka, recently I was able to connect with my KIMS friends online. Can we do the same with JSStice also
I am so glad to see Shreeyala on this page.I met Renu in a conference two weeks back. How are you doing Shreeyala.Yes !! Rekha perhaps is the only person in our group who has stood for what she really chose to be.Most of us got lost in the din of our daily life drifting far away from what we all collectively aspired .In my times of trying situations I think of her and tell myself. If she could do it so can I and push myself ahead.
But Rekha is truely a role model for us all.
Kishor, get my contact info from Renu, and as you said all of us drifted from our common interest and now are able to reconnect. I am fine and how about you
Shreeyala do send me your contact details on kishorjagirdar@gmail.com
Renu is as most of the time inaccessable over phone and email.I send emails and she rarely responds due to her work load all on emails.I too recieve around 70-120 emails a day and I hardly respond to all of them. Please care to also visit my blog
