Another complaint to Tesco....

I've now started writing for GreenGuysGlobal.com so most of my posts will now be on there, with the odd rant on this blog :) Please stay tuned...

Dear Mr Leahy

I am writing to complain to you about your Tesco store in Branksome, Poole, Dorset.

For several months now I have been disappointed by the lack of customer comment cards in the store. 'We value your opinion' the sign above the comment card collection box says. However there has been no sign of comment cards or any posted responses from the management of the store stating exactly how they have responded to customer comments/complaints.

As an ethical consumer I'm also concerned about a number of other problems in the store. Conveniently the 'Number of carrier bags used last week' poster has been stuck on the same number (6850) for a matter of months along with the total. It may seem small but I sincerely believe information like this is important in order to encourage customers to stop uses oil based plastic carrier bags, especially as the Chancellor of the Exchequer recently threatened to introduce legislation if shops refuse to do anything about stopping their use.

On a similar note, in the coming years standard lightbulbs will also be phased out through legislation. I was please to see Tesco Branksome, stocking energy saving lightbulbs, but today I have noticed they've discontinued the sale of these lightbulbs altogether. Something which seems at odds with the corporate target of selling 10 million eco light bulbs by 23/04/2008*

I look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely

Gareth Jones
